Newell Convers Wyeth was one of America’s early western illustrators. His early trips to the frontier inspired the image of the ‘wild west’. This image is called “The Hunter” or “Call of the Wild” and depicts an Indian brave standing in a river with a bow and arrow at the ready. He has a wild goose strapped across his back and is watching a flock of geese take flight overhead.
